Become a Volunteer Owner Driver

 

The team at STAR Community Services are looking for Owner drivers to join our Transport Team and support the vulnerable members of our community.

Our Drivers assist STAR in providing affordable door-to-door transport services to the elderly, frail, and people with disabilities.

As a Volunteer Owner Driver, you will use your own vehicle and will be reimbursed 88 cents per km (non-taxable), which is the standard rate set by the ATO.

Do you live, or can you travel to the following locations

  • Redlands
  • South Brisbane
  • Logan
  • Gold Coast
  • Ipswich
  • Lockyer Valley
  • Toowoomba
  • Warwick 

All we ask is

  • Your car is under ten years of age and suitable for loading and unloading of seniors and people with mobility issues (some large 4WDs may not be appropriate) 
  • You have comprehensive and compulsory third-party insurance applicable to the class of vehicle
  • the vehicle must undergo services every six months (proof is required)
  • The vehicle must be registered in your name
  • You hold an open Drivers License
  • Comply with all provisions of Queensland's Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act 1995.
  • Have a 0.00% blood alcohol level while operating the vehicle
  • Comply with all relevant organisational policies and procedures
  • Be willing to undertake relevant training 
  • Undertake an NDIS Workers Screening Check (previously a Yellow Card), which includes a police check (No Cost to You)
  • Have a current flu vaccination.
  • Have or obtain through our training First Aid and CPR Certificates (no cost to you)

 

Please note

  • Hours and days are flexible, but we ask that you commit to a minimum of three to six months.
  • This is a Centrelink-approved activity.
