Aged Care Team - Volunteer Social Club Host
STAR Community Services provides a range of activities for our clients to ensure that they can participate in local social activities, improve their well-being, and overcome social isolation.
The purpose of the volunteer position is to act as a host/chaperone for activities. The Volunteer Host is responsible for ensuring clients understand what activities will include any critical times, meeting points etc. They also assist with ordering in restaurants etc.
They may also conduct ice-breaker activities and games to get clients to connect with each other.
Key responsibilities include:
- Meeting and greeting clients at designated venues (Lunch Club, Charters) or at their door (Easy Shopper).
- Ensure all registered attendees are present or accounted for (including at all stops while on Charter and Easy Shopper)
- Provide clients with an overview of each Charter, Lunch Club and Easy Shopper and handle enquiries.
- Assist with ushering clients to and from venues and in placing morning tea and lunch orders.
- Encourage social interactions via icebreakers and social activities
- Facilitate introductions between clients
Position requirements:
- have a warm and friendly demeanour and the ability to talk to people from all walks of life
- be a team player and able to follow instructions
- be available for at least 4 – 5 hours per week with a minimum commitment of 3 – 6 months
- have a good sense of humour and patience.
Successful volunteers will need to obtain the following:
- First Aid and CPR
- Federal Police Check
- NDIS Workers' Screening Check
STAR will assist successful applicants to obtain these at no cost.
Successful applicants must also have or be willing to get a Flu Vaccination.
