Newcomer Information Centre (NIC) Group Facilitator

Newcomer Information Centres are welcoming places for immigrants starting their new lives in Canada. Newcomers can access a great variety of free support and services here.

As a volunteer, you are a part of our multicultural teams helping newcomers find useful information and helpful support in their settlement process in Canada.

Newcomer services can be found at the following locations:

Time Commitment:

  • Minimum three hours per week (Monday to Friday)
  • Minimum three-month time commitment

Qualifications:

  • Minimum age 18.
  • Successful applicants to this role will need to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening from their local police service before their first day of volunteering and every three years on the anniversary of their first day of volunteering. 
  • Team player and active listener.
  • Creativity, planning and interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Ability to work in a face-paced environment. 
  • Punctual and responsible.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office and internet use. 
  • Sensitivity in dealing with participants from a variety of cultural and racial backgrounds. 
  • Education in linguistics, teaching methodology or in any related discipline an asset.
