Training - Artifact Handling Training
Overview
Artifact handling is an essential component to becoming a Collections Care volunteer. This training sessions covers the basics of artifact handling with an in-class portion and practical application of skill at the end. All volunteers are required to take this training before working with WDM artifacts.
What you'll learn
- How to properly clean, move, and handle Museum artifacts
- How to identify different types of wear and the causes behind it
- What products and tools to use when cleaning
- Special considerations when handling different materials
Training is held entirely in the volunteer centre.
Time commitment
Training is two hours long
Training & Qualifications
- Must have WDM volunteer orientation and be a volunteer in good standing
Qualifications Required
- WDM Safety Orientation Quiz Must be Passed
