Welcome to the WDM Saskatoon Volunteer Hub

Here you'll be able to register as a new volunteer, browse roles, and get in touch with Museum staff. We look forward to you joining the team!
Connecting Past With Future
At the WDM, we recognize how important it is for the next generation to appreciate the histories that shape where, and who, we are today. If you're passionate about igniting a spark for history in young minds, we'd love to have you involved.

Historically Fun!
Get involved with all the WDM events you know and love! Whether you'd like to be behind the scenes or in the action, there is a role for you.

Want to get involved hands-on?
Do you have a passion for the old-fashioned? Does hand-churning butter sound like your ideal afternoon? If YES!, heritage demos are for you! Heritage demos typically happen on WDM event days.

We still "make 'em like they used to"
The functioning, traditional blacksmith shop is a unique, well loved feature of the WDM. WDM Corporate Office offers yearly training courses for new smiths, while out shop is an opportunity for experienced smiths to show off their craft.

Calling all craftspeople...
If you've got an aptitude for lighting, electrical, painting, woodworking, etc. there are opportunities to get involved in exhibit maintenance!

Get hands on with artifacts
The gallery cleaner role gives you the unique opportunity to get a new perspective on Museum artifacts. If you've always wanted to "hop the fence", this is the job for you! We provide artifact handling training for this role.

The Western Development Museum’s facilities are situated in Treaty 4 and Treaty 6 territories and the Homeland of the Métis. The provincial boundaries for Saskatchewan also include Treaty 2, Treaty 5, Treaty 8 and Treaty 10 territories.
Our vision is to embody Saskatchewan’s diverse cultural heritage and inspire curiosity in our shared histories. We believe that people’s lives are enriched by connecting with Saskatchewan’s diverse histories. We also believe that people experience a sense of place and belonging because their histories are shared through the WDM.
