When disaster strikes, animals and the people who love them need support fast. Join our Emergency Response Volunteer Team and play a critical role in helping pet owners and their animals during bushfires and other emergencies across NSW.
This is a meaningful, hands-on role that calls for compassion, calm under pressure, and a genuine desire to help people and animals during some of their most difficult moments.
What you'll be doing
- Setting up and supporting evacuation centres and RSPCA Relief Points, ensuring they are organised and welcoming for pet owners and their animals
- Distributing essential pet supplies including food, water, bedding and crates to pet owners in the community
- Providing friendly and empathetic support to pet owners, answering questions and offering guidance on caring for their animals during emergency situations
What we're looking for
- At least 18 years of age
- Enthusiastic and passionate about animal welfare and helping people
- Comfortable lifting heavy equipment and spending extended periods on your feet
- Calm, empathetic and able to work effectively under pressure
Time commitment
This is an as-needed role activated during emergency situations. The time commitment will vary depending on the scale and urgency of relief efforts. Volunteers will always be informed of deployment opportunities in advance.
