Volunteer with RSPCA NSW

Volunteers are integral to the work RSPCA NSW does. Their commitment, dedication and passion helps abandoned, neglected, sick and surrendered animals all across New South Wales. We can't thank our volunteers enough for the incredible work they do.

If you're interested in learning more about volunteering for RSPCA NSW, please select your preferred location or role. Please note that some volunteer roles will involve direct animal contact, while others will involve providing support without direct contact.

However you decide to help, you'll be making a life-changing difference to animals in need.

Please note: RSPCA NSW is unable to accept people under 16 years old, or people wanting to volunteer for work placement, work experience or Duke of Edinburgh. To view our full FAQ's, please click here.

How to apply

1. Choose the volunteer or foster care role that suits you, what you're interested in and close to your location! Roles change regularly, so if something isn't a perfect fit, check back later. You can check for your closest RSPCA NSW location by entering your postcode on our website.

2. Read the role description, and if it suits you, click on the 'Fill in an application' button where you will be prompted to create an account, fill in your details and why you are suitable to the role you have selected.

3. Once an application has been lodged, you can finalise your volunteering profile and within five (5) business days, a member of our volunteering team will be in contact regarding the next steps in your application, which will include an online induction, in-person/online training or a phone call.

Volunteer requirements (some roles may have additional requirements):

  • an email address, as communications and updates are sent primarily via email
  • must be 16 years of age or older
