Patient Visitation - Unit 5 East, Visitor/Meal Tray Set Up
Description
Royal Alex patients, on this General Medicine Unit, need you! If you enjoy chatting with people and helping out, this may be a fulfilling experience for you. As a volunteer you would visit with patients, providing non-professional care and comfort, as well as assisting with meal-tray set-up. You CAN make a difference in someone's day.
Requirements
- ability to draw on broad life experience to engage in conversation with a wide diversity of patient population
-friendly, respectful, flexible, reliable, mature
- self-motivated; able to work independently and as part of a team
- interest in people from all walks of life; empathy
- willing and able to push patients in wheelchairs
- good English communication skills
- able to work one two-hour shift, weekly
- high attention to infection control and good hygiene
- encourage patients to eat, help set up meal tray
- completion of Mealtime Assistance Level I training
