Patient Visitation - Unit 52, Visitor/Special Request List
Description
Do you enjoy people from all walks of life, especially the elderly? Would you enjoy listening to their stories or offering your support and encouragement during this challenging time? As a volunteer you would visit with patients on this General Medicine/Geriatrics Unit, as well as patients listed on our special request list, providing non-professional care and comfort. Through chatting, going for walks, reading to patients, playing card/word games, and so on, you could improve the quality of care and experience during hospitalization.
Requirements
- ability to draw on broad life experience to engage in conversation with a wide diversity of patient population
-friendly, respectful, flexible, reliable, mature
- self-motivated; able to work independently and as part of a team
- interest in people from all walks of life; empathy
- willing and able to push patients in wheelchairs
- good English communication skills
- able to work one two-hour shift, weekly
