Patient Visitation - Unit 53, Visitor/Special Request List
Description
Do you enjoy chatting with the elderly? Would you appreciate the opportunity to offer support and comfort to those who have experienced Stroke? As a volunteer you would visit with patients on this Stroke/Geriatric Unit, as well as patients listed on our special request list, providing non-professional care and comfort. Through chatting, reading to patients, and so on, you could improve the quality of care and experience during hospitalization. A great opportunity to show your compassion!
Requirements
- ability to draw on broad life experience to engage in conversation with a wide diversity of patient population
-friendly, respectful, flexible, reliable, mature
- self-motivated; able to work independently and as part of a team
- interest in people from all walks of life, especially the elderly; empathy
- willing and able to push patients in wheelchairs
- good English communication skills
- able to work one two-hour shift, weekly
