Patient Visitation - Unit 51, Visitor/Special Request List
Description
Do you enjoy people from all walks of life and listening to their stories? Do you want to offer your support and encouragement to those who could really use it at this time in their life? As a volunteer you would visit with patients on this General Medicine/Nephrology unit, as well as patients listed on our special request list, providing non-professional care and comfort which would, in turn, improve quality of care for our patients. Through chatting, going for walks, reading to patients, playing card/word games, and so on, you could improve the quality of care and experience during hospitalization.
Requirements
- ability to draw on broad life experience to engage in conversation with a wide diversity of patient population
-friendly, respectful, flexible, reliable, mature
- self-motivated; able to work independently and as part of a team
- interest in people from all walks of life; empathy
- willing and able to push patients in wheelchairs
- good English communication skills
- able to work one two-hour shift, weekly
