Patient Visitation - Unit 32, Visitor/Meal Tray Set up

Royal Alex patients, on this Orthopedic Surgery Unit, need you! Do you enjoy people from all walks of life and listening to their stories? Do you want to offer your support and encouragement to those who could really use it at this time in their life?  Through chatting, reading to patients, playing card or word games, colouring, and helping with meal tray set up, you could improve the quality of care and experience during hospitalization.  

Requirements
- ability to draw on broad life experience to engage in conversation with a wide diversity of patient population

-friendly, respectful, flexible, reliable, mature

- self-motivated; able to work independently and as part of a team
- interest in people from all walks of life; empathy

- willing and able to push patients in wheelchairs
- good English communication skills, other languages an asset
- able to work one two-hour shift, weekly

- high attention to infection control and good hygiene

- completion of Mealtime Assistance Level 1 training

- encourage patients to eat, help set up meal tray
