Description
Do you know what it is like to be bored or bed ridden? Do you love books and reading? Would it not be great to be able to support hospitalized patients by offering books or magazines to them, right at their door? Providing patients the opportunity to access books or magazines during hospitalization will improve their experience and quality of care at the Royal Alex. A great way for you to see many areas of the hospital and gain experience in a health care setting.
Requirements
- physically able to push mobile book cart and walk distances
- very good English communication and reading skills, other languages an asset - good understanding of books, authors, genres, etc, preferred
- able to learn route, retain training information and effectively fulfill duties
- personable, respectful, conscientious, reliable
- able to work independently; self-motivated
- comfort level with people from all walks of life
- good problem-solving skills and customer service skills
- high attention to physical safety of self and others
- high attention to infection control measures
- be available for a 2-hour training session during a weekday, prior to 4pm
*volunteers may not enter outbreak units
