Patient Visitation - Unit 18, Visitor/ Special Request List
Description
Would you like to be able to offer your support and encouragement to our patients who are awaiting placement in the community? As a volunteer you would visit with patients on this Bridging Unit, providing company and leisure experiences. Your kindness could improve the quality of care and experience for these Royal Alex patients. A good role for those interested in cognitive decline, traumatic brain injury and dementia.
Requirements
-friendly, respectful, flexible, patient
-very good English communication skills, other languages an asset
-skilled at sparking conversation, ability to draw on broad life experience to engage in conversation with a wide diversity of patient population
-at least 18 yrs of age preferred
-self-motivated; able to work independently and as part of a team
-reliable, mature
-interest in people from all walks of life
-understand and have compassion for marginalized populations
-previous experience with those who have declined cognition, traumatic brain injury and dementia, an asset
-able to set boundaries, be firm and resilient
-willing and able to push patients in wheelchairs, preferred
