Summary:
Project Management Institute – Los Angeles Chapter (PMI-LA) PMI-LA is seeking dedicated and passionate volunteers to support our wildfire relief and recovery efforts in the Los Angeles area. As a Community Engagement Coordinator – Wildfires Relief & Recovery, you will play a crucial role in connecting PMI-LA members with meaningful volunteer opportunities to assist communities impacted by the recent wildfires. You will identify, assess, and curate volunteer opportunities, and promote them through our PMI-LA Social Impact page and other channels. Additionally, you will help organize and facilitate in-person volunteer events where PMI-LA members can contribute their time and skills to support various non-profit organizations involved in the recovery process.
Responsibilities:
- Identify Volunteer Opportunities: Actively research and identify volunteer opportunities related to wildfire relief and recovery efforts in the Los Angeles area. This may include opportunities with established non-profits, community organizations, and government agencies.
- Triage and Curate Opportunities: Evaluate identified opportunities to ensure they are suitable for PMI-LA members, considering factors such as skills required, time commitment, location, and safety.
- Recommend and Promote Opportunities: Present curated opportunities to the Los Angeles Wildfires Relief & Recovery Task Force for review and approval. Promote approved opportunities to PMI-LA members through the Social Impact page on the PMI-LA website, social media channels, and other communication platforms.
- Develop In-Person Volunteer Events: Identify opportunities for PMI-LA to host and produce in-person volunteer events, partnering with local non-profits and community organizations. This includes tasks such as event planning, logistics coordination, and volunteer recruitment.
- Maintain Accurate Records: Keep detailed records of volunteer opportunities, including contact information, activity descriptions, and participation data.
- Collaborate with the Task Force: Work closely with the Los Angeles Wildfires Relief & Recovery Task Force to ensure alignment with overall goals and strategies.
Qualifications:
- Strong interest in supporting wildfires relief and recovery efforts.
- Excellent research, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with online platforms and social media.
- Project management skills are a plus (but not required).
- Familiarity with the Los Angeles area is beneficial.
