VOLUNTEER OPENINGS - FIN: Financial Systems & Reporting Manager

Purpose

The Financial Systems & Reporting Manager is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, compliance tracking, and financial systems management to ensure transparency, accuracy, and efficiency in financial decision-making. This role supervises the Financial Data & Power BI Analyst and works closely with the Director of Finance & Compliance, Sr. Financial Analyst, and Finance Team to provide timely financial insights and maintain robust financial reporting systems.

 

Responsibilities/Accountabilities

 

Leadership & Oversight:

  • Supervise the Financial Data & Power BI Analyst, ensuring high-quality financial data reporting and visualization.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and professional development to team members.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager to ensure aligned reporting structures.

 

Financial Reporting & Compliance:

  • Prepare and present monthly financial reports to the Director of Finance & Compliance and VP of Finance.
  • Ensure compliance with PMI-LA’s financial reporting policies, nonprofit standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with the Sr. Financial Analyst to maintain accurate financial tracking and reporting.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary reports and documentation.

 

Financial Systems & Data Management:

  • Oversee financial systems (QuickBooks, Power BI, and related financial tools) to ensure accurate data processing.
  • Implement process improvements for financial data accuracy, automation, and reporting efficiency.
  • Ensure financial data is properly structured for analysis, forecasting, and compliance tracking.

Data-Driven Insights & Decision Support:

  • Develop financial dashboards and reports that provide key insights for leadership.
  • Track financial trends and provide recommendations based on data-driven analysis.
  • Work closely with the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager to ensure financial data aligns with budget performance tracking.

 

Time Commitment

  • 6-8 hours per month

 

Battle Rhythm (Recurring Activities & Deadlines)

Weekly:

  • Review financial data accuracy and ensure reporting metrics are up-to-date.
  • Monitor financial system integrity and resolve data discrepancies.

Monthly:

  • Provide financial reports and compliance updates to the Finance Director & VP of Finance.
  • Ensure dashboard updates with the latest budget performance and variance analysis.

Quarterly:

  • Conduct internal financial reporting audits for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assess financial system performance and recommend improvements.

Annually:

  • Support external audits, tax filings, and financial statement preparation.
  • Assist in long-term financial planning by maintaining accurate historical data and projections.

 

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in financial reporting, accounting, or nonprofit finance.
  • Knowledge of Power BI, QuickBooks, and financial dashboards.
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills.

 

Role-Specific Security Access

  • Read & Edit Access: Financial statements, reporting dashboards.
  • Financial Systems Access: QuickBooks, Power BI, financial compliance software.
