Member Experience Ambassador

Summary: The Member Experience Ambassador plays a key role in creating a welcoming and engaging environment at PMI-LA in-person Membership events. This volunteer collaborates with the VP of Membership and Membership event leaders to ensure attendees feel welcomed, connected, and supported throughout the event.

This role supports PMI-LA members by greeting attendees as they arrive, helping facilitate introductions, and mingling during events to ensure participants are comfortable and having a positive experience. A strong member experience helps build engagement, strengthen connections, and improve member retention.

This role is particularly important for helping new members and first-time attendees feel comfortable and included.

Duties:

Event Welcome and Check-In Support

  1. Greet attendees as they arrive at in-person Membership events.
  2. Help create a welcoming and professional first impression.
  3. Assist with directing attendees to check-in tables, seating areas, or event activities.
  4. Help identify new members or first-time attendees and ensure they feel welcome.
  5. Answer basic questions or direct attendees to appropriate volunteers or Board members.

Member Engagement

  1. Mingle with attendees during events to promote networking and conversation.
  2. Introduce attendees to one another to encourage connections.
  3. Help ensure that attendees who arrive alone are included in conversations.
  4. Support a friendly and inclusive environment for all participants.
  5. Help connect members with PMI-LA leaders and volunteers when appropriate.

Member Experience Monitoring

  1. Observe attendee engagement and identify individuals who may need assistance or introductions.
  2. Check in with attendees periodically to ensure they are having a positive experience.
  3. Provide informal feedback to the VP of Membership about attendee satisfaction and event experience.
  4. Identify opportunities to improve the attendee experience.

Event Coordination Support

  1. Coordinate with the VP of Membership and Membership event leaders before events.
  2. Confirm arrival time and event responsibilities.
  3. Support smooth event flow by assisting with minor logistical needs when necessary.

Documentation and Continuous Improvement

  1. Provide feedback after events to help improve future Membership activities.
  2. Share observations about member engagement and networking effectiveness.
  3. Help identify opportunities to enhance the member experience at future events.

  • Experience attending PMI-LA events

  • Interest in volunteer leadership within PMI-LA

Estimated Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per event. Typically supports 4-8 Membership events per year. Optional 30-minute coordination check-ins before events.
