Project Management Open Space Events Director

 

Summary: The Project Management Open Space (PMOS) Events Director leads the planning, organization, and execution of PMI-LA's interactive, participant-driven PMOS events.  This role ensures that attendees can engage in meaningful discussions on project management challenges, solutions, and best practices in an open, collaborative setting.

 

Duties:

  • Participate in virtual team meetings to plan PMOS events, including determining event format, date, and location.
  • Take the lead on various event planning activities, such as:
    • Securing venues for in-person events.
    • Familiarizing self with virtual event platforms for hybrid/virtual participation.
    • Preparing communication materials for event promotion, including posting on the chapter website and social media.
    • Managing attendee registration and tracking participation trends.
    • Coordinating volunteers to assist with event logistics and facilitation.
    • Organizing supplies, materials, and giveaways for in-person events.
    • Ensuring the PMOS format promotes open, participant-led discussions and dynamic collaboration.
  • Providing on-site or virtual event support on the day of the event.
  • Maintain documentation, including:
    • Project plans and event schedules.
    • Post-event reports and lessons learned.
  • Engage with members to promote participation in PMOS events and encourage ongoing involvement.
  • Collaborate with other Membership Team members and provide support for additional engagement initiatives.
  • Attend monthly Membership team meetings to align on chapter-wide goals and planning.

 

Skills:

  • Strong event planning and coordination skills.
  • Excellent facilitation and public speaking abilities to guide interactive discussions.
  • Ability to engage and connect with members, ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment.
  • Familiarity with virtual event technologies (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or similar platforms).
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills for tracking event planning and feedback.

 

Estimated Time Commitment: 1 to 3 hours per week for planning and preparation. 2 to 4 hours at the event (varies based on in-person vs. virtual format). 1 hour per month for Membership team meetings.
