Dish Washing

Overview: Dishwashing is one of the most important sanitation procedures in the animal shelter. 

Prerequisites: Disease control webinar

Job Duties:
- Clean and wash dirty dishes (food and water dishes, litter boxes, toys, etc.)
- Dry and put away clean dishes
- Restock shelter areas with clean dishes, toys, and litter boxes as needed

Days & Hours Needed: We currently have one dish washing shift available for sign up on Wednesdays from 9:30-11:30 am and Saturdays from 9:30-11:30 am.

Requirements: Communicate in a way that demonstrates and promotes collaboration, cooperation, problem solving, and interpersonal skills to foster a positive work environment, teamwork, and productivity. Other requirements are as follows:
  • Must follow the mission of the APF
  • Must attend New Volunteer Orientation
  • Knowledge of an ability to follow APF policies and protocols
  • Ability to learn and quickly adapt to changes in programs and procedures
  • Organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks
  • Able to withstand exposure to animal odors, diseases, possible contagious conditions, animal waste, chemical cleaning agents, high temperatures, and moderate noise levels
  • Must be able to operate dishwasher (training provided)
  • Must be able to squat and bend, lift and reach, stand and walk for up to 2 hours and lift up to 20 lbs
  • Must maintain a positive relationship with staff, volunteers, and clients
  • Ability to work independently once trained
