Laundry

Overview: Laundry tasks are some of the most important sanitation procedures in the animal shelter.

Prerequisites: Disease control webinar

Job Duties:
- Wash and dry all dirty laundry (blankets, towels, scrubs, etc)
- Fold and organize all clean laundry in laundry room
- Restock shelter areas with clean laundry

Days & Hours: We currently have laundry shifts available for volunteer sign up Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 2:00-4:00 pm.

Requirements: Communicate in a way that demonstrates and promotes collaboration, cooperation, problem solving, and interpersonal skills to foster a positive work environment, teamwork and productivity. Other requirements are as follows:
  • Must follow the mission of the APF
  • Must attend New Volunteer Orientation
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow APF policies and protocols
  • Ability to learn and quickly adapt to changes in programs and procedures
  • Organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks
  • Able to withstand exposure to animal odors, diseases, possible contagious conditions, animal waste, chemical cleaning agents, high temperatures, and moderate noise levels
  • Must be able to operate washer and dryer
  • Must be able to squat and bend, lift and reach, stand and walk for up to 2 hours and lift up to 20 lbs
  • Must maintain a positive relationship with staff, volunteers, and clients
  • Ability to work independently once trained
