Photography Assistance

Overview: With new dogs and cats arriving at the APF frequently, we are always in need of beautiful photos that will catch the eye of potential adopters! Volunteers who sign up for this shift will help us get photos of new animals or new photos of longer stay animals.

Job Duties:
- Set up and break down photography equipment
- Photograph dogs and cats for adoption with provided equipment
- Assist with handling of animals being photographed under the supervision of a staff member

Days & Hours: This is a brand new volunteer opportunity and more days and hours may become available in the future. For now, we have an open shift available for sign up from 8:15-10:15 am on Saturday mornings.

Requirements: Communicate in a way that demonstrates and promotes collaboration, cooperation, problem solving, and interpersonal skills to foster a positive work environment, teamwork, and productivity. Other requirements are as follows:
  • Must follow the mission of the APF
  • Must attend the New Volunteer Orientation
  • Knowledge of APF policies and protocols
  • Ability to represent the APF in a profession manner in all situations with the public, volunteers, and staff
  • Must be observant and communicate effectively 
  • Must be patient, courteous, outgoing, and able to handle stressful situations when dealing with customers and animals
  • Ability to learn and quickly adapt to changes in programs and procedures
  • Organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks
  • Must be able to squat and bend, lift and reach, stand for up to 2 hours, and lift up to 20 lbs
  • Able to withstand exposure to animal odors, diseases, possible contagious conditions, bites, scratches, animal waste, moderate noise levels, and cleaning chemicals
  • Working knowledge of cat behavior, breeds, diseases, and medical conditions is a plus
