Tween Tabletop Role-Playing Games (TTRPG) Program Assistant
Location: East Library
Schedule: Second and Fourth Tuesday of each month, 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. (Ongoing)
Age Requirement: 21+
About the Role:
Do you enjoy imagination, games, and helping kids have fun? We’re looking for a friendly and dependable volunteer to assist with a tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) program for tweens at the library. This program plays DnD as well as other role playing games, so experience as a DM or leading TTRPG is necessary. You will co-lead this program with another person. Support library staff and help participants create characters, understand gameplay, and enjoy a collaborative storytelling experience in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Qualifications:
• Enjoy working with children ages 9–12, especially those new to TTRPG
• Familiarity with tabletop role-playing games (such as Dungeons & Dragons) and experience as a DM or Game Master.
• Ability to explain rules or concepts in a clear, age-appropriate way- This is often the first experience the tweens have with any type of TTRPG.
• Patient, friendly, and supportive demeanor
• Ability to follow library policies and staff direction
• Dependable and punctual
Time Commitment:
• Program occurs monthly on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday, 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.
• Volunteers are asked to arrive 15 minutes early for setup and stay briefly after for cleanup
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist library staff with program setup and cleanup
• Welcome participants and help them get settled
• Support gameplay by helping tweens understand basic rules, characters, and materials
• Encourage cooperation, creativity, and respectful behavior
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive environment
• Communicate any concerns or issues to library staff during the program
Support Provided:
- Library staff will manage registration, attendance, and logistics.
- Game materials and supplies provided.
- Ongoing communication and support from the tween services librarian.
