Summer Technology Volunteer Program – Computer Science & Engineering Students

The Pikes Peak Library District Information Technology Department is seeking six motivated college students for a summer volunteer position (unpaid) to participate in a technology program lasting approximately 6–8 weeks. This opportunity is designed for students who want hands-on experience working alongside IT professionals on real-world technology projects.

Participants will work as a team and select from several available project options through a group vote at the beginning of the program. Projects may include infrastructure, cybersecurity, automation, systems administration, software development, emerging technologies, and other operational IT initiatives.

This program is intended to provide practical experience in a professional IT environment while helping students build technical, communication, and project collaboration skills that are valuable for future careers in technology.

Volunteer schedules will vary but participants should plan for 12 hours a week.


Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Computer Science, Engineering, or related technology degree program
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong interest in information technology and problem solving
