Open Garden Volunteers needed

Are you passionate about gardens, community events, and making a meaningful difference? Join us as a volunteer for Open Gardens 2026 and help bring this much-loved fundraising event to life in support of St Wilfrid’s Hospice.

Each year, generous local garden owners open their gates to the public, showcasing stunning private gardens while raising vital funds for hospice care. From tranquil cottage gardens to vibrant contemporary spaces, Open Gardens is a highlight of the local calendar — and we need friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to help make it a success.

Bates Green, Tye Hill Road Arlington BN26 6SH        (NO STALLS) - Wed 29th April              
Sherrington Manor, Selmeston BN26 6UB - Sat 30st May               
Friston Place, Friston BN20 0AH - Sat 20th June
Foxhunt Manor Foxhunt Green, Nr Waldron TN21 0RX - Sat 25th July 
Limekiln Farm, Chalvington Road Chalvington BN27 3TA - Sat 8th August

 

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Open Gardens Volunteer, you might:

  • Welcome visitors and provide a warm first impression

  • Help with entry donations and Gift Aid

  • Support with refreshments or stalls

  • Assist with directions and visitor flow

  • Chat with guests and share information about the hospice

  • Help set up or pack down event materials

No specialist gardening knowledge is required — just a positive attitude and a willingness to help.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Friendly and approachable individuals

  • Reliable team players

  • Comfortable interacting with members of the public

  • Available on selected event dates during the Open Gardens season

  • Passionate about supporting local hospice care

Whether you can spare one afternoon or several weekends, your time will make a real difference.
