Are you passionate about giving animals in need a safe and loving temporary home?

As a Foster Carer, you will provide short-term care for animals who need extra support before they are ready for adoption. This may include adult and underage animals, mothers with litters, cats, dogs, birds, and pocket pets, as well as animals recovering from surgery, receiving medication or simply needing rest, socialisation or a break from the shelter environment.

Fostering plays a vital role in our lifesaving work. You will feed, clean, monitor and nurture animals in your home while keeping in touch with our team about their progress.

We provide everything you need, including food, litter, medication and all required veterinary care. Your role is to offer stability, a safe environment and most importantly, the love that they need while they prepare for their forever homes.

Opening your home to an animal in need has a significant impact. Foster carers helps us save and transform the lives of the animals that come into our care.

We are looking for foster carers who are:

• Able to provide a safe and secure indoor or outdoor environment
• Patient, reliable and confident handling a variety of animals
• Comfortable following AWLQ’s care guidelines and attending vet check-ups when required
• Calm, caring and able to support animals who may be young, unwell or learning new behaviours

🚗 Transport: You must have reliable transport for regular vet appointments and any emergencies.
💛 Commitment: Foster periods vary from 1-8 weeks (or sometimes longer), depending on the animal’s needs.
🕒 Availability: Must be available for scheduled vet visits and daily feeding and care routines.
📍 Locations: Beenleigh, Gold Coast, Ipswich, Warra, Willawong (depending on foster animal availability)
