Volunteering with us is more than just helping out; it's a journey to rediscover yourself.

**What to Know:**

- We're excited to connect with you! Although we don’t take on new volunteers all year, please apply, and we’ll guide you on the next steps.

- Flexibility is important! We suggest at least one volunteer shift per week, but this is role dependent and we can discuss what works best for you.

- Dress appropriately! Wear suitable clothes and shoes for your role. We'll give you guidelines on what to wear.

- Please note, we cannot cover travel expenses at this time.

- We welcome volunteers aged 17 and up for Visitor Operations Engager/Invigilation roles, and 18 and older for all other roles.

- Some roles will be subject to DBS checks  Safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults is a priority for The Auckland Project

Volunteering Activities, what are you interested in?

Gift shop/ticket sales Visitor Operation (VO)

 

We’re offering exciting volunteer roles within our Gift Shop, Ticket Sales, and Courtesy Buggy Driving teams, where you’ll have the chance to make a real impact on our visitors’ experience.

Why volunteer with us? 

These roles are perfect for individuals who: 

- Are 18 years or older.

-- Have a welcoming, friendly, and helpful attitude 

- Are proactive and committed to providing an excellent visitor experience 

- Are enthusiastic about learning and growing in a new role 

- Are reliable, well-presented, and enjoy working with people 

- Can collaborate well as part of a team 

- Can work independently and under supervision when needed 

Volunteering in these roles offers a chance to connect with others, learn new skills, and be a part of something special. If you love interacting with people and want to play an important role in creating memorable experiences for our visitors, then one of these roles could be for you.

Visitor Facing roles in our Galleries/Spaces/Museum

The team responsible for delivering our visitor attractions is Visitor Operations (VO). Volunteer roles in VO include greeting visitors and engaging with them across various attractions, including Auckland Palace, The Faith Museum, the Spanish and Mining Art Galleries, and Auckland Tower.

If you enjoy interacting with people, this is the team for you. No prior experience or qualifications are necessary for volunteering in this area—don't worry, we don't expect you to be an art expert or history buff. Instead, it's an opportunity to acquire new skills.

We are particularly looking to engage individuals who are available to volunteer on weekends. Recruitment and induction sessions will be scheduled accordingly.

We believe these volunteer roles are perfect for individuals who:

- Are 17 years or older

- Possess excellent communication skills and are comfortable initiating conversations with people of all ages

- Radiate a welcoming, approachable, and helpful demeanour

- Are proactive, positive, and committed to providing an excellent visitor experience

- Are enthusiastic and willing to learn

- Are reliable, well-presented, friendly, and polite

- Are comfortable collaborating as part of a team

- Are able to undertake activities both independently and under supervision

Community and Public Programming Team

Be part of an exciting and dynamic team dedicated to bringing our cultural sites to life. Our goal is to enhance the visitor experience and engage deeply with our local communities through events and activities that are rooted in the rich narratives and history of our venues and collections.

 As a programming volunteer, you'll have the chance to:

- Help run events like intimate concerts, recitals, and musical performances.

- Actively engage visitors through additional activities.

- Support regular arts, drop-in activities and creative projects.

- Assist with the makers markets at No 42.

 Volunteering in this team opens up a world of possibilities. Whether you're interested in hosting unique events or helping visitors explore everything we offer, there's something for everyone. If you enjoy variety, meeting new people, and sharing your passion, the programming team is the perfect fit for you!
