Bartender Volunteer - Position Description
Role:
The Bartender Volunteer is responsible for courteously and efficiently serving beverages and other concession items to patrons in accordance with FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton (FOACM) policies and procedures, and the Liquor License and Control Act, 2019 of Ontario. Volunteers support bar and concession operations, which are typically open one (1) hour prior to curtain and during intermission.
Time Commitment:
- Volunteer a minimum of two (2) shifts per month
- Arrive on site 90 minutes prior to curtain, or as scheduled
Responsibilities:
- Report to the bar and check-in with the Duty Supervisor
- Serve alcohol responsibly in accordance with Smart Serve guidelines
- Ensure bar and concession areas are stocked, organized, and ready for service
- Sell beverages and concession items and process payments accurately
- Monitor alcohol consumption and address any concerns in collaboration with the
Duty Supervisor - Escalate patron concerns or incidents to the Duty Supervisor promptly
- Assist with post-event cleanup, including removal of garbage from Cogeco Escarpment Hall
- Understand emergency procedures, including evacuation protocols
- Be familiar with the locations of fire exits, fire extinguishers, and defibrillators
- Complete all opening and closing procedures as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must meet requirements of the Town of Milton volunteer program
- Smart Serve Certification (submitted with application or attend course provided)
- Criminal Record Check
- Must be willing to serve/sell and process payments
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate loads (e.g. cases of beverages)
