Face Painting Attendant

Join us for Car Free Day, on August 29, 2026! Car Free Days take place across the country and aim to inspire people to get out of their cars, interact with each other, and explore alternative modes of transportation. Enjoy the fun street fest with live entertainment, family-friendly activities and games, great local food and beverages, market booths, Translink bus displays, and more.

Volunteers are wanted for a variety of roles, including providing face painting from a number of pre-set designs. A training/practice session will be offered in advance. 

Date: Saturday, August 29, 2026

Times:

• 12:30pm - 4:30pm OR
• 4:15pm - 8:30pm

Location:

• McAllister Avenue between Shaughnessy St and Mary Hill Road 
• Check in at the Outlet - Work Room (2248 McAllister Avenue)

Specific volunteer duties will include: Welcoming child and family participants; face painting from a pre-set list of designs. Taking down the art activity stations once the event is over.  

All Volunteers may end up doing these duties:  Set up and take down of tables, chairs, and supplies; putting up/ taking down signage; providing information and direction; and assisting Special Events staff as needed. 

Working Conditions: Car Free Day will run RAIN OR SHINE. Please dress appropriately for the weather. Light snacks will be provided at the Volunteer/Staff break room, which is inside The Outlet.  

Requirements:

•    Minimum of 14 years of age
•    Experience working with children (variety of ages)
•    Knowledge of children’s games and activities
•    Comfortable interacting with the public
•    Fluent in spoken English (fluency in a second language is an asset)
