Port Coquitlam Community Centre - Event Assistant
Port Coquitlam’s annual Canada Day event is returning for 2026! Canada Day kicks off with a pancake breakfast at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre in the Mabbett Hall! There is also free drop-in basketball in the gym and free drop-in lacrosse offered in the Jon Baillie Arena from 8:30 - 11:30am.
Volunteers are wanted to support staff and participants with a variety of activities, including providing event information and directions, light breakfast clean-up, and assisting event staff as needed. This is a great role for anyone who wants to learn about event management and enjoys variety and working as part of a team.
Date: Wednesday, July 1st, 2026
Time: 8:45am - 12:00pm
Location:
- 2150 Wilson Avenue, Port Coquitlam
- Check in at Mabbett Hall with your supervisor, Baljit Sastry.
Specific volunteer duties may include:
- Assisting with the set up or take down of the event of tables, chairs and tents;
- Welcoming visitors to the event;
- Light breakfast clean-up
- Providing event information and direction;
- Helping to manage lineups for the Pancake Breakfast;
- Providing directions and support to participants in the Gym and Jon Baillie Arena
Working Conditions: Activities will be indoors at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 19 years of age
- Enjoy working independently and as part of a team
- Able to safely lift 20lbs
- Previous customer service experience is an asset
- Fluent in spoken English (fluency in a second language is an asset)
