Castle Park - Vender Loading & Shuttle Assistant

Port Coquitlam’s annual Canada Day event is returning for 2026! Everyone is invited to come together for a picnic in the park with live entertainment at Castle Park. Enjoy family-friendly games and festivities, a beverage garden, food trucks and more.

Volunteers are wanted to help oversee a smooth experience for venders and eventgoers. This role will help to oversee vender load-in and load-out as well as welcoming event visitors and providing directions to the free community shuttles to and from the event.

Date: Wednesday, July 1st, 2026

Times:

• 10:30am - 2:00pm OR
• 7:30pm - 9:00pm

Location:

• Castle Park (2252 Castle Crescent)
• Check in at the Volunteer HQ tent (Castle Park)

Specific volunteer duties will include:

• Checking that only permitted vendors use the three different loading zones;
• Directing vendors to their designated vendor areas;
• Ensuring vendors do not leave their vehicles in the loading zones for more than their allotted time.
• Welcoming eventgoers as they load off of community shuttles to the event.
• Helping eventgoers find the correct shuttle stop as they leave the event.
• Volunteers may also be asked to provide information on activities happening at the event and directing patrons to various activities and facilities.

Working Conditions: Canada Day at Castle Park will run RAIN OR SHINE. Please dress appropriately for the weather. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. Volunteers who support for 6 hours or more will be provided with a meal voucher for use at any food truck.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 16 years of age
• Enjoy working independently and as part of a team
• Enjoy engaging with members of the public
• Previous customer service experience is an asset
• Fluent in spoken English (fluency in a second language is an asset)
