Purpose of the Role

Volunteer Greeters provide a warm and professional welcome to patrons as they approach and enter the Freeman Arts Pavilion. They help set expectations for the guest experience, share important venue information, and ensure patrons move efficiently through the ingress process. Greeters play a key role in creating a positive first impression and helping patrons navigate the venue safely and smoothly.

Greeters will be strategically placed both inside and outside of the gates to assist patrons throughout the venue.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Enthusiastically and professionally welcoming all patrons and guests into the venue
  • Direct patrons to entrances, security, and seating areas efficiently
  • Provide clear, friendly answers to general questions about the venue, events, and policies
  • Share information about venue rules, carry-in policies, and re-entry procedures
  • Help ensure each patron has a ticket ready for scanning and is prepared for security checkpoints
  • Direct patron traffic through queue lines and security checkpoints
  • Maintain a positive and approachable demeanor while interacting with large groups of patrons
  • Be knowledgeable about the layout of the venue, seating locations, and event-specific details to guide patrons effectively
  • Support venue operations by being aware of ongoing events and helping patrons navigate to different areas
  • Follow guidance from JMFF Security staff and Volunteer Captains; do not engage in confrontations with patrons

 

Essential Skills

  • Friendly, approachable, and professional
  • Strong verbal communication skills; comfortable speaking loudly and interacting with many patrons
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Observant and attentive to patron needs
  • Positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed

 

Qualifications

  • Ability to stand for 5+ hours in all weather conditions, including direct sunlight and extreme heat
  • Ability to bend, reach, and move around to assist patrons and manage lines
  • Full understanding of event layouts, seating arrangements, and venue flow (training provided)
  • Ability to follow instructions

 

Training and Support

Volunteers are required to complete a series of onboarding and training courses including but not limited to:

  • Virtual & In-Person Orientations
  • Virtual and In-Person Training
  • Venue Tour
  • On-the-job training
