Purpose of the Role
Volunteer Scanners help ensure a smooth and efficient entry process by verifying tickets quickly and accurately. They provide one of the first impressions for patrons, welcoming them to the venue and delivering exceptional customer service while maintaining security and ticketing accuracy.
Scanners are strategically positioned at entry points to assist patrons and ensure only patrons with valid tickets are allowed entry.
Essential Responsibilities
- Enthusiastically and professionally welcome all patrons and patrons as they enter the venue
- Scan tickets and verify their validity quickly and accurately
- Troubleshoot scanning issues and direct patrons with ticket issues to the Box Office
- Count the number of tickets and track patron attendance using scanners, clickers, or other systems
- Be knowledgeable about upcoming performances and events to answer general questions
- Understand the venue seating layout and direct patrons with specific seating questions to the usher crew
- Adapt to changing technologies and systems as needed
- Follow guidance from Volunteer Leads and Box-Office staff
- Support the venue by helping with other tasks as needed, including clean-up after events
- Understanding of event layouts, seating arrangements, and venue flow

- Positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed
Qualifications
- Ability to stand for 5+ hours in all weather conditions
- Ability to bend, reach, and move around to assist patrons and manage lines
- Basic understanding of event layouts, seating arrangements, and venue flow (training provided)
- Ability to follow instructions

Volunteers are required to complete a series of onboarding and training courses including but not limited to:
- Virtual & In-Person Orientations
- Virtual and In-Person Training
- Venue Tour
