Purpose of the Role
Volunteer Parking Attendants provide essential support to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow and parking for patrons at Freeman Arts Pavilion performances. They help create a positive first impression for patrons, support venue safety, and assist in maximizing available parking spaces. Parking Attendants are strategically positioned throughout the parking areas to direct vehicles and pedestrians safely while delivering exceptional customer service.
Essential Responsibilities
- Direct vehicles to assigned parking areas efficiently and safely
- Assist with entry and exit traffic flow throughout the onsite lots and park & ride
- Ensure traffic lanes and fire lanes remain clear of vehicles and obstacles
- Encourage pedestrians to use sidewalks and safe walking areas, including intersections in the Bayside community
- Assist with the setup and reconfiguration of traffic control equipment (cones, bars, signs, barricades, etc.)
- Monitor parking areas for safety concerns or hazards and communicate with JMFF Staff as needed
- Direct patrons to the main entrance of the venue
- Support Park and Ride shuttle traffic as assigned
- Work cooperatively with other volunteers and JMFF staff to maintain safety and order
- Greet patrons warmly and answer basic questions about the evening’s performance
- Understanding of event layouts, seating arrangements, and venue flow

- Friendly, approachable, and professional
- Comfortable directing vehicles and interacting with patrons
- Able to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment at night
- Observant, safety-conscious, and attentive to detail
- Team-oriented and flexible, able to adapt quickly to changing situations
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to stand for 4+ hours in all weather conditions, including extreme heat on asphalt / concrete
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds
- Willingness to follow directions and use provided safety uniforms and equipment
- Comfortable performing duties at night
