Purpose of the Role
Volunteer Chair Checkers help ensure the safety and enjoyment of all patrons by screening chairs at venue entry points. They greet patrons warmly, enforce venue policies, and work closely with JMFF Security staff to maintain a smooth and secure entry process. Chair Checkers are strategically positioned at entrances to assist patrons and manage the screening of chairs and other permitted items.
Essential Responsibilities
- Screen chairs to ensure compliance with Freeman Arts Pavilion policies
- Physically handle and move chairs through the screening process
- Communicate with JMFF Security staff regarding any prohibited items or security concerns
- Be knowledgeable about venue and carry-in policies to answer patron questions
- Support the Security Team in safely managing patron entry before and during performances
- Adapt to a variety of situations and work in a flexible, team-oriented environment
- Support the venue by helping with other tasks as needed, including clean-up after events
- Basic understanding of venue layout and Freeman Arts Pavilion carry-in policies (training provided)

Qualifications
- Ability to stand for 4+ hours in all weather conditions, including direct sunlight
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds
- Ability to bend repeatedly throughout patron entry
- Comfortable physically handling chairs and other items as required

Volunteers are required to complete a series of onboarding and training courses including but not limited to:
- Virtual & In-Person Orientations
- Virtual & In-Person Training
- Venue Tour
