Fort Edmonton Park

The Capitol Theatre will be a part of DARK 2026. As the spooky scenes unfold outside the Capitol's walls, we could be happy for your help to keep guests safe and warm on the inside of the historic replica building. Welcome guests to this popular warm-up spot, enjoy a show and keep a watchful eye out for ghoulish behaviour.

 This is the perfect volunteer opportunity for you, if you:

• have excellent interpersonal, and customer service skills

• have knowledge of Fort Edmonton Park, or other special events at Edmonton facilities

• are keen to help with an INDOOR/OUTDOOR role that's a little warmer but should be prepared to stand OUTSIDE and open and close the door as guests enter and leave. If it is a warmer night please make sure the door is PROPPED open to invite the guest in and make them feel welcome.

• are comfortable climbing some stairs

• ONLY ADULTS. Volunteers for DARK 2026 must be at least 18 years of age

• NEW VOLUNTEERS must be available on either Wednesday, September 16th OR Saturday, September 20th for DARK Orientation

• love Halloween, and all things scary! 

Since DARK 2026 runs for thirteen nights between October 2 - 31, feel free to sign up for as many or as few as you wish. We recommend a minimum of three evenings, to get to know the team, hit your stride, and have a sufficient amount of fun.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to ensure time to get comfortable with the theatre.

Duties:

• Greet audience members

• Guide members of the audience to their seats

• Guide audience members to entrances, exits and toilets

• Ensure audience are not using their phones or any other recording equipment during the performance

• Help manage the audience in emergency situations

• Check for safety issues

• Assist guests when leaving and reentering during a performance.

• Check on the seating area to make sure that it is clean and ready for the next guests.
