Quotes from a current volunteer:
- "I feel so Grateful and Blessed to Volunteer at Advocate Children's Hospital, Oak Lawn campus l. On my volunteer days, I get to hold and sing to the babies, play with the toddlers and talk to the teens. I am able to get the parents something to drink, a snack, or maybe a break to make a phone call or get coffee. Volunteering as an animal assisted therapy support is so very heartwarming for me to see the smile on the extremely tender children and the interactions and joy parents share. I LOVE volunteering." Cathy
- "Volunteering at Advocate Children's Hospital is a privilege and a blessing. Cuddling and soothing babies who are ill is a delight to my soul. Playing and providing games, toys, and coloring materials for older children helps them pass the time they might otherwise be alone. I find volunteering adds joy to my own life. " Lorri

Children's Hospital volunteers
Ambassador/Entrance Volunteer

Way finding/Guest Services ambassador volunteers welcome and escort visitors throughout the hospital making each visitor feel welcome. They aid in a overall successful visit and are often the last impression as visitors leave. This is a powerful role to help ensure our patients and visitors do not worry about where or how they get to their destination within our facilities. Ambassadors aid to help reduce anxiety so visitors can focus on their healing journey.
Office Support/Administrative

Volunteers do amazing work behind the scenes to help many departments with special projects such as creating patient education folders, helping staff phones, stocking items or assisting with computer projects. We'll help you find the right project work that interests you!
Animal Assisted Therapy
Our four-legged friends and their volunteer handlers bring joy and reduce anxiety for patients, visitors and teammates through our animal assisted therapy program. Dogs and at some sites, miniature horses, must be certified for animal assisted and registered as current volunteers throughout our hospitals. They are beloved by all!
Advocate and Aurora Health Virtual Volunteer
Virtual volunteers can work remote from home while still providing meaningful support for our patients through a variety of programs. The Concierge Admission Program supports newly admitted patients with a phone call from a virtual volunteer to discuss their stay, identify any needs they may have while with us and assist with concerns. Volunteers call patients from home to any one of our hospitals. Virtual volunteers can also serve as remote witnesses for patients who need an advance directive for care and assist with hospitalized patients during elections to provide guidance on how they can vote using a proxy. Many more virtual experiences are being developed thanks to our wonderful virtual volunteers!
