Welcome to the Advocate, Atrium and Aurora Health Volunteer Team!
We are excited to share how our volunteers impact the patient experience as you explore our opportunities on our website! Please consider your talents, passion and time as you review the many possible ways you can give meaningfully to patients during the most challenging times in their lives.
To get started please select the location at which you would like to serve as a volunteer. Once on that location's page you will see an overview of the types of volunteer opportunities offered. Then you can complete your application and will be asked what type of volunteer role interests you. Don't worry, there is no commitment to that role. We just want to get an idea of what you like and how you want to serve. We'll figure out the best role for you during the placement interview.
Prior to the first day of volunteering, you may be asked to complete some or all the below based on the location and type of volunteer role you choose:
All volunteer candidates:
- Complete online volunteer training.
Volunteer candidates 19 years old and older:
- Consent to a criminal background check (applies to anyone 19 years old and older)
Volunteer candidates in roles located within a hospital or clinic:
- Complete a free-of-charge medical screening which includes.
- A blood draw for TB (Tuberculosis). Does not apply for volunteers in Georgia.
- Provide proof or agree to receive the following vaccinations:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccine
- Influenza (flu) vaccine – applies during flu season (usually October through March).
- If you have a medical or religious reason for not receiving certain vaccines, you will have the option to submit an exemption form for review.
- We will share with you detailed instructions and guide you through the health screening process once you are accepted into the program.
Please note two important things:
1. Aurora Psychiatric Hospital and Aurora and Advocate Hospice require volunteers to be 18 years of age or older.
2. If you do not have an email address, please do NOT complete an online application. Instead contact us directly. We'll help you through a different process.
