In volunteers' words...

"Deciding to volunteer here was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made." ~Mitch, Walker's Point Community Clinic Volunteer

"Thank you for welcoming me and accepting me when I found my way into the clinic. Thank you for the lessons on empathy. Thank you for sharing your stories, experiences and skills with me. Thank you for modeling how to appropriately provide care to all people and how to work towards the changes we wish to see in society. I’ll forever be grateful for the opportunities and experiences I gained at the clinic." ~Gbemi, Walker's Point Community Clinic Volunteer

“I saw firsthand the disparities and challenges that refugees and people without insurance face. I’m so grateful I got to experience all the good the clinic does. It was so powerful to be part of a team that wholeheartedly believes in their mission and works every day to make it a reality. The way they saw their duty as health care professionals helped shape and guide me through physical therapy school. Everyone embraced me so caringly and supportively. They found different roles for me to play in their mission to improve health care and access to health care in the community. This is what it looks like to be invested in the health of a community.”  ~Isaac, Walker's Point Community Clinic Volunteer

"Solidarity. This word resounds in my mind as I think of the providers and team members here at Walker’s Point Community Clinic.  I’m blessed to have worked alongside this team, where I witnessed firsthand the compassion poured  into each patient interaction. Each  encounter was facilitated  in such a manner that upheld the dignity of the human person, patient autonomy, and advanced justice through equity minded access to quality care.  There is a nuanced cultural humility to stand alongside the communities we serve bridging care gaps. I take with me the valuable lessons I’ve learned during my time at Walkers Point Clinic and carry with me the love y’all have poured into the work you do!"  ~Emmanuel, Walker's Point Community Clinic Volunteer

Office Support/Administrative

Volunteers do amazing work behind the scenes to help many departments with special projects such as creating patient education folders or materials, helping staff phones, stocking items, preparing and organizing new patient intake paperwork, ordering and preparing medications, or assisting with computer projects. We'll help you find the right project work that interests you!

Crafting

Prayer shawls, lap blankets, quilts, baby hats, stuffed toys...the list goes on and on with the many ways our talented volunteers share their gifts with our patients! We welcome any and all ideas of handmade items to lift the spirits of our patients. If you have an idea of something you'd like to share please let us know and we'll work with you to ensure it is safe for the medical environment.

Guest Services/Department Reception

Be the face of the clinic as you welcome patients and visitors and assist them to get settled and prepared for their appointment, while at the same time supporting our Patient Service Representatives at the front desk.

Volunteers play a key role in decreasing patient's anxiety by providing a warm and welcoming approach focused on setting the stage for a successful visit. Help patients navigate their phone voicemail and calendar and the LiveWell app so that they can be on top of important communication from the clinic. Our goal is to provide that caring and emotionally supportive environment for the clinic.

Patient Facing/Patient Care Areas

Our goal is to ensure every patient receives access to the care they need and an excellent patient experience. If you are a clinician (RN, NP, PA, MD, DO, PT, etc.) and are interested in volunteering your time to give back to a community in need, we might have a great opportunity for you here!

Patient Enrichment Activity Volunteers

Do you have skills, talents, and passions that you would like to share with our community or grow in with our support? We'll help you find the right project work that interests you!

This could include facilitating educational or support groups for refugee or immigrant patients, conducting one-on-one interviews or surveys about patient experience, supporting a patient advisory council, assessing patients about their social and economic needs, assessing patients' eligibility for services at our clinic, helping patients find important community resources, and more.
