Volunteer E-Commerce Assistant

Volunteering with us is easy, flexible, and inclusive. If you can spare a few hours a week, or a couple of hours occasionally, we’d love you to join our volunteer team.
As a Volunteer E-Commerce Assistant, you’ll help turn donated items into vital funds by creating online listings and supporting our growing digital sales. This role is ideal if you enjoy working with a variety of products, have an eye for detail, or are interested in online retail and e-commerce.
Based at Chesterfield Shop and at Head Office in Rugby , you’ll be involved in researching and photographing donated items, writing listings and helping ensure they reach the right buyers online. There’s real satisfaction in seeing something you’ve listed sell, knowing that every sale helps us continue our lifesaving work.
Just so you know, we are unable to accept volunteers aged under 16 or anyone with unspent criminal convictions. Please note this is an unpaid voluntary position in a friendly charity shop.
Typical tasks include:
- Sorting & Researching: Receive and assess donated items, sort and organise goods, and research item details as needed.
- Photography: Take clear, attractive photos of donated items for online listings, capturing key details and features.
- Listing: Log items for online sale and create accurate, informative descriptions.
- Picking & Packing: Locate sold items, pack them securely, and prepare orders for postage or courier collection.
We will support you with:
- Full training and ongoing support from our friendly e-commerce team.
- Gaining experience in e-commerce, retail, and fundraising.
Application deadline: Ongoing
Informal chat: After you have applied, the shop manager will contact you to arrange a time to chat about volunteering, which could also include a taster session
Start date: After your chat with the manager and once on-boarding has been completed, we will work with you to agree a start date
