Package and Posting Volunteer
Volunteering with us is easy, flexible, and inclusive. If you can spare a few hours a week, or a couple of hours occasionally, we’d love you to join our volunteer team.
Online selling is a fast growing and exciting way to retail in the digital age, so if you would like to get involved in this, come join us at either Chesterfield store or our Head Office in Rugby to support the shop’s online sales and donations operation by preparing sold items for dispatch, ensuring they are safely and attractively packaged, correctly labelled, and posted on time.
This role helps raise vital funds for our cause through online platforms like eBay, Vinted, or the charity’s own website, knowing this will be helping us continue to fund lifesaving missions.
Just so you know, we are unable to accept volunteers aged under 16 or anyone with unspent criminal convictions. Please note this is an unpaid voluntary position in a friendly charity shop.
Typical tasks include:
- Carefully wrap and package items sold online to prevent damage in transit
- Accurately weigh and measure parcels to calculate postage
- Print and attach correct shipping labels
- Drop off parcels at the post office or prepare them for courier collection
- Keep a log of dispatched items
- Help maintain a clean and organised packing area
- Report any issues (e.g. damaged items or missing information) to the Shop Manager or Online Sales Coordinator
Training & Support: Full training will be provided including Health & Safety, Manual handling (if applicable) Packaging standards and posting procedures
Application deadline - Ongoing
Informal chat - After you have applied, the shop manager will contact you to arrange a time to chat about volunteering, which could also include a taster session
Start date - After your chat with the manager and once on-boarding has been completed, we will work with you to agree a start date
