Pastoral Care Volunteer

The role of the Pastoral Care Volunteer is vital in creating a sense of wellbeing, connection and community for veterans and seniors. Volunteers nurture and support individuals as required and during times of crisis or significant life events. Pastoral care will be culturally safe, trauma aware and healing informed. 

Key responsibilities

  • Provide effective, person-centred support, in a way that is spiritually, socially, emotionally and physically safe and respectful for older people, their families and staff. The support offered is irrespective of the person's identity, culture, ability, diversity, beliefs and life experiences. 
  • Regularly visit the sites, talk with senior persons and offer relevant support as discussed with staff. 
  • Always maintain confidentiality 
  • Communicate any concerns, issues, accidents or near misses to staff immediately

Personal Qualities & Skills

 

  • Have excellent interpersonal skills with ability and willingness to develop these further
  • Ability to make personal connections with staff, volunteers, senior people and their families regardless of cultural background, beliefs and denominations
  • Be reliable, flexible and committed
  • Alignment with RSL LifeCare values and willingness to follow Policies and Procedures
