Volunteering at RSL LifeCare


Visiting Residents (1:1 or in groups)

The role of the Volunteer Visitor is vital in creating a sense of connection and community for veterans and seniors in our Residential Aged Care facilities. Volunteers make regular social visits and engage in social activities including crafts, music or activities. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Visit the resident allocated to the volunteer at the aged care facility at a time agreed between the volunteer and RSL LifeCare, or participate in activities that are relevant to the resident or a group of residents which may include having social conversations, playing music, playing board games and supporting other social activities
  • Communicate with RSL LifeCare staff to discuss volunteering visits and report any issues that may arise

Expertise, Knowledge & Experience

  • Have patience, kindness and empathy for mature aged people
  • A desire to make a positive difference in someone’s life
  • Reliability and flexibility
  • At ease working independently and as part of a team
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with people from a variety of backgrounds
  • Alignment with the values of RSL LifeCare
  • Willing to follow WH&S procedures outlined in the Volunteer Handbook
  • Willing to seek and accept advice on the role and provide feedback, as appropriate
