Volunteer Driver
The Volunteer Driver role plays a vital part in fostering wellbeing, connection, and a sense of community for veterans and seniors. Volunteers work in conjunction with staff and seniors to help plan outings and safely drive the RSL LifeCare bus to a variety of destinations. This support enables seniors to remain active, socially connected, and engaged in their communities.
Main Tasks:
- Coordinate trip planning with village staff members to determine destinations, schedules, and pick-up points.
- Collect seniors from the agreed pick-up point and drive them to the specified location, returning to site after the trip.
- Build relationships and connect with seniors during trips.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect boundaries. It is your duty to report any updates, concerns, issues, accidents, or near misses immediately to the Village Manager.
- Abide by the Volunteer Code of Conduct and always follow all RSL LifeCare Policies and Procedures and attend all required training sessions to ensure safe, confident, and high-quality support.
- You must always follow the guidance of the staff to ensure clients’ safety, consistency of care, appropriate response to changes and meeting the legal, ethical and regulatory compliance.
- Volunteers must perform their role only as outlined in the role description and under the guidance of staff – never performing tasks outside of the scope of the role. This ensures the safety, wellbeing, and dignity of clients and protects volunteers from risks or liability.
