Volunteer Visitor
The role of the Volunteer Visitor is vital in creating a sense of wellbeing, connection and community for seniors in our Residential Aged Care facilities. Volunteers make regular social visits and engage in social activities. We aim to match volunteers with residents that may share a common interest, cultural or life experience or hobby.
Main Tasks:
- Regularly visit the residents allocated to the volunteer at the aged care facility. Talk to residents and build relationship with them
- Encourage and help residents to participate in activities if appropriate
- Participate in activities organised for residents (this may include playing board games, craft and other social activities)
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Communicate with RSL LifeCare staff to discuss volunteering visits and report any issues that may arise
Personal Qualities & Skills:
- Have patience, kindness and empathy for mature aged people
- Great interpersonal skills and ability to make personal connections with people from different backgrounds
- Be reliable, flexible and committed
- A desire to make a positive difference in someone’s life
- Alignment with RSL LifeCare values and willingness to follow policies and procedures
