Internship description: OVRP Ranger program will provides hands-on learning and mentorship for individuals exploring careers in parks, conservation, and public service. It focuses on education, stewardship, and community engagement while exposing interns to real-world park operations. Interns support projects and programs under supervision, gaining practical
experience without replacing paid staff. The goal is to build skills, professional insight, and a strong foundation for future work in land management and environmental stewardship. Learning to identify and remove non-native vegetation, native plant installation, and habitat restoration activities. Support volunteer events and community stewardship projects. Participate in bird surveys and basic wildlife monitoring. Collect and record field data using ArcGIS web maps and other tools. Assist with sign and fence installation and conduct park patrols focused on visitor safety and resource protection.  Provide support with outreach and marketing materials, including basic graphic design, as applicable. Complete a defined internship project as determined in coordination with supervising staff.  

1. Demonstrate professional growth by creating a portfolio or brochure that documents completed projects, skills gained, and contributions made during the internship.
2. Develop teamwork and communication skills by working collaboratively with park rangers, staff, volunteers, and partners in a field-based public service environment.
3. Apply independent problem-solving skills by successfully completing one individual project, as determined in coordination with supervising staff.
