Hours: Time commitment is 6 months, 4 hours per shift (1-2 days a week) and must take place during business hours from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, for the 6-month volunteer term, or, as required for school intern credit program. Internship less than 6 weeks will not be considered. 

 

Required: Resume and cover letter. Please include internship duration and the days and time that you are available. Applicants must pass a fingerprint and background check and must be currently enrolled in an academic program.

Internship description: 

 

Assist staff in the Office of the City Attorney Criminal Division with inquiries from victims and witnesses, preparation of court forms, court calendars, data entry from arrest reports and citations, conducting research, verifying report information, telephone interviewing of witnesses, computer searches, providing accurate file documentation and various clerical and administrative duties. This opportunity provides practical experience for students pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. Interns must be reliable and trustworthy with regard to all matters and maintain confidential information.  

 

Volunteer support will be done at the City Attorney’s Office and court. Complimentary parking for this work location is not available. You must pay for your own parking if you choose to drive yourself to this location. However, transportation alternatives are available, which includes the bus, trolley, or Coaster train, which are all within walking distance to the downtown location.
