Cat Foster: Behaviour
Some felines become may come into our shelter with a particular behaviour issue that may need monitoring and correction. Time in a temporary home provides us with the opportunity to get to know the cat's personality better which helps us find a forever home.
The Foster Parent's role is to be a supportive "parent" by providing a calm, safe, engaging and nurturing environment.
Requirements
- Meet the general requirements of Foster Parents outlined on the website.
- Complete required online mandatory feline behaviour & care training modules.
- Cat-proof your home to reduce potential safety hazards.
- Provide a separate room away from household pets.
- Maintain a peaceful, loving environment for the feline.
- Maintain communications with a Mentor and/or Foster Team.
- Commit to the entire foster period with the feline.
- Try to spend a minimum of two hours per day with the feline to socialize and document the cat's behaviour.
