In-Shelter: Foster Assistant
CAN'T FOSTER AN ANIMAL? VOLUNTEER BEHIND THE SCENES
The Foster Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Foster Team by assisting with the care and preparation of animals transitioning in and out of foster care. Volunteers in this position help ensure that animals are weighed, supplies are prepared, and foster parents have everything they need to provide temporary homes. This role is essential in keeping the foster program running smoothly and providing care for animals in the shelter.
The Scope of the Activity
Volunteers support the Foster Team and Foster Parents in the shelter with appointments, preparation of animals, and supplies going into or returning from a Foster Care Volunteer. Foster Assistant is responsible for weighing animals in shelter.
Qualifications
- Excellent customer service skills to support other volunteers (Foster Parents) in-person appointments.
- Good physical condition, as will require repetitive bending and lifting of heavy (up to 20 pounds) items like pet food or supplies.
- Can be on your feet for the duration of a three-hour shift.
- Work well with another team member to provide service to in-person foster appointments.
- Ability to multi-task within a busy and stressful environment.
Time & Other Requirements
Availability (subject to vacancies):
- Weekdays: 11am-1pm, 2pm-4pm or 4pm-6pm pm,
- Saturdays 10am-12pm, 1pm-3pm or 4pm-6pm,
- Sundays 12pm-3pm or 3pm-6pm.
