Volunteer Child Minder - English Language Program

Timing: Friday 9:15am – 12:00pm

Starting: Currently running during school terms

Location: Broadmeadows Community Centre- 182 Widford St, Broadmeadows

Commitment: Ongoing

PROGRAM SUMMARY

Jesuit Community College is a Registered Training Organisation and Learn Local organisation providing people with real skills for life, learning and work. We help individuals, and by extension their families and communities, reach their full potential.

The English Language program involves working with adults who are seeking Asylum. The program supports people new to Australia to develop their English following the direction of the learner’s needs and interests.

 POSITION DETAILS

  • Mind young children while parents attend class

  • Play, read and supervise play

  • Ensure the safety and welfare of children in your care

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Flexible and adaptable

  • Patient and open to learn about yourself and others.

  • Ability to take direction

  • Respectful, mature minded and responsible

  • Build rapport with a range of people while being open and aware of cultural concerns

 

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with minding children.

  • Committed to regular attendance and task accomplishment.

 

TRAINING PROVIDED

  • Training will be provided.

 

CONFIRMED VOLUNTEERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO:

  • Attend an interview.

  • Complete the Jesuit Social Services Volunteer application.

  • Agree to a Police and Working with Children check.
