Banksia Gardens Community Services is inviting volunteers and student placements who are passionate about the environment and community action to join our growing sustainability initiatives. If you're interested in making a difference, we’d love to hear from you!

We offer a variety of hands-on and creative roles that support our climate adaptation, circular economy and environmental education programs. Volunteers can participate in both casual group activities—like our monthly Working Beesand special projects tailored to your skills and interests (find the difference in our website).

Our current programs include:

  • Heat Haven – a climate adaptation initiative and local heatwave refuge

  • Community Garden – a thriving food and learning space

  • Composting – organisation-wide compost systems and community drop-off

  • CARYA (Climate Adaptation Requires Youth Action) – youth-focused climate education

  • Environmental Education – workshops and school/community learning programs

Activities you may get involved in:

  • Gardening, planting, and maintaining urban green spaces

  • Composting and soil improvement

  • Assisting with community and social events

  • Supporting environmental education or data collection

  • Helping build simple infrastructure using recycled or natural materials
